Russell Wilson, Jimmy Graham, Earl Thomas and Bobby Wagner are the Seahawks’ Pro Bowl selections for the 2017 season.
That’s three fewer than the team-record seven Seattle had in each of the last three seasons. Of course, those teams were was on their ways to the playoffs for the third, fourth and fifth consecutive years. This battered Seahawks team is on the verge of playoff elimination.
This is Thomas’ sixth selection for the Pro Bowl at free safety in his eight seasons in the NFL, all with Seattle. He’s the only member of the famed “Legion of Boom” secondary still playing and healthy for the Seahawks.
With previous Pro Bowlers Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Cliff Avril all on injured reserve Seattle (8-6) needs a win Sunday at equally desperate Dallas (8-6), another win New Year’s Eve against Arizona and a ton of holiday help and luck to make the playoffs again.
Wilson made the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in his sixth season. The $86 million franchise quarterback has set the Seahawks’ single-game passing record with 452 yards this season. He’s likely to set career highs in completions and attempts, and his 30 touchdown passes are four from his career best from 2015. He also leads Seattle in rushing with 521 yards. His 4,190 total yards is 86.3 percent of all yards the Seahawks have gained this season, most of any player for any one team. He’s had games in which he’s produced as much as 96 percent of Seattle’s yards.
This is Graham’s fifth Pro Bowl nod, and second in row while with Seattle. His other three game in 2011, ‘13 and ‘14 for New Orleans. The big tight end has nine touchdown catches in the final year of his contract. This catch with 21 seconds left beat Houston in November:
